Season Finale - Coral Sprint Trophy 14th October 2017

The last day's racing of the season at York brought a large crowd into the Knavesmire on an exceptionally warm Octobers Day. With 6 races sponsored by Coral the Season's finale saw Teruntum Star trained by Kevin Ryan and ridden by Kevin Stott win the feature race - The Coral Sprint Trophy.

The final top jockey and trainers awards were settled with Daniel Tudhope and William Haggas taking the honours for 2017.

In time honoured fashion the Band of The Coldstream Guards played on the parade ring to bring another season's racing at York to an end.

Countryside Raceday Friday 13th October 2017

The last race meet of the season at York kicked off with the Countryside Raceday. Always a popular day, a good crowd enjoyed some competitive racing and a host of non-race activities including live music, sheep dog trials and a countryside market.

The feature race The Unibet Stakes was won by Brimham Rocks owned by Mr and Mrs Ackroyd, trained by Ralph Beckett and ridden by Richard Kingscote. To see pictures from this race all the days racing on the Knavesmire click here.

Ebor Saturday 26th August 2017
26th August 2017
Nakeeta clinched victory in the Ebor Handicap holding off the bookies favourite Flymetothestars in a close finish. Trained by Iain Jardine and ridden by Callum Rodriguez the Betfred Ebor was one of the many highlights to the 2017 Festival.

And it finished in fine fashion with the last race- The Betfred Apprentice Stakes - where a delighted Michael Dods trained both Holmeswood and Intense Romance to a dead heat. To see all the pictures from the days racing click here.
Ebor Festival Friday 25th August 2017

Day three of the Welcome to Yorkshire Ebor festival and photo finishes determined two of the main races. Montaly pushed on late to deny the Queens horse Dartmouth in the Group 2 Weatherbys Hamilton Lonsdale Cup.

In the Group 1 Coolmore Nunthorpe Stakes Marsha pipped the hotly fancied Lady Aurelia. In the tightest of finishes Marsha trained by Sir Mark Prescott gave Luke Morris his first UK group 1 win. To see pictures from these races and from all the other days racing click here.
Ebor Festival Thursday 24th August
24th August 2017
Day 2 of the Ebor and a large ladies day crowd saw some more top quality racing including winners for two Yorkshire Stables. The feature race - The group 1 Darley Yorkshire Oaks - however was won in sublime fashion by the hotly tipped Enable. Trained by John Gosden and ridden by Frankie Dettori Enable led the field from the start and was never troubled in her 5 length victory.

Local trainer Mark Johnston won the Sky Bet Lowther Stakes with Threading and David O'Meara's yard took The British Stallion Studs E.B.F Fillies' Stakes with Lincoln Rocks.

Welcome to Ebor Festival Day 2017
23rd August 2017
Day one of York's premier meeting and it did not disappoint with some top class racing. The big winners on the day were Cracksman trained by John Gosden and ridden by Frankie Dettori, whose flying dismount capped off a superb win in the Betway Great Voltigeur Stakes.

Then in its flagship race The Group 1 Juddmonte International Ulysses triumphed, giving Sir Michael Stoute another winner for The Flaxman Stables in Ireland. To see action from all the first days racing of the festival click here.
Music Showcase Weekend Saturday 29th July 2017

Good weather, big crowds, great racing and All Saints. York Racecourse had it all going on during the Go Racing In Yorkshire Summer Festival. The feature race of the day The Sky Bet Dash was won in fine style by Rachel Richardson on Flying Pursuit. It gave Tim Easterby another winner it what has been a phenomenal performance with 9 winners during the Summer Festival so far.

Music Showcase Friday 28th July

The rain could not dampen the spirits of a large crowd who witnessed a very enjoyable evenings racing followed by the Grammy Award winning Artist Jess Glynne playing live. Enstar won the feature race of the evening - The British Stallion Studs EBF Lyric Fillies' Stakes. Paul Hanagan winning well and giving trainer William Haggas another Knavesmire victory.

The 58th John Smith's Cup Day

A fantastic day of racing on the Knavesmire with the whole race card once again being sponsored by John Smith's. The feature race saw the 58th running of the John Smith's Cup which was won by Ballet Concerto, trained by Sir Michael Stoute and ridden by James Doyle.

Mystic Dawn trained by David Simcock and ridden by Stevie Donohoe won the feature race of the day - the Unibet Summer Stakes.

Summer Music Saturday - 1st July 2017

A brand new Raceday at York drew large crowds for a mix of racing and music with Olly Murs delighting the racegoers after an entertaining afternoon's racing. Harry Bentley secured a double including riding Defoe to victory in the feature race The Stakes.

Macmillan Charity Raceday 17th June 2017

A scorching day on the Knavesmire drew a huge crowd to indulge in a wonderful day of racing and charity fundraising at York. The day began with the Queen Mother's Cup for Lady Amateur riders and was won by a delighted Joanna Mason on Tapis Libre.

The feature race saw Tim Easterly's trained Golden Apollo with James Sullivan on the ride win the Catherine Kinloch Paver Memorial Charity Stakes. A cracking afternoon with over £500,000 raised for Macmillan was capped with the ride of their Lives Charity race. Belinda Keighley took the honours in this inspirational race. Mid Summer Raceday 16th June 2017

A return to the Knavesmire on Friday 16th June saw Eartha Kit win well in the feature race, The EBF Breeders' Series Fillies' Stakes. Meanwhile Brian Ellion's horse De Kool provided the surprise 33-1 win of the day in The Jigsaw Sports Branding Stakes.

Sunshine and Sharp Showers for a large crowd on the Knavesmire who enjoyed a competitive days racing. Dal Harraild trained by William Haggas and ridden by Paul Hanagan won the feature race - the wedding Grand Cup.

Day 3 Dante Festival Yorkshire Cup day
19th May 2017
The last day of the Dante Festival 2017 saw The Queen's horse Dartmouth win the Yorkshire Cup. Trained by Sir Michael Stoute and ridden by Ryan Moore it won out in a tightly contested race that split the field across the track.

Dante Festival Thursday 18 May

Day 2 of the Dante festival brought the sunshine and a large crowd to see some top quality races. The feature race of the festival The Betfred Dante Stakes saw the Yorkshire's yard of Mark Johnston taking the honours with Permian, owned by Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Al Maktoum and ridden by Franny Norton.

2017 Dante Festival Season Opener
17th May 2017
17th May marked the opening day of flat racing at York. Persistent rain fell for much of the day but the crowd were treated to some high quality racing. Tasleet owned by Hamdan Al Maktoum trained by William Haggas and ridden by Jim Crowley was a convincing winner of the Duke of York Clipper Logistics Stakes.

Season Finale - The Coral Sprint Trophy
08th October 2016
The last days racing of the season drew a large crowd on the Knavesmire. They were rewarded with a fine days racing including the feature race Coral Sprint Trophy. Intisaab took the honours in that race, for owner Mr Stuart Graham, trained by David O'Meara and ridden by Shelley Birkett. The band of The Coldstream Guards brought the season to a fitting end on the lawn of the parade ring bringing the curtain down on another hugely enjoyable and successful season of racing at York.
